5 key components of a high converting website

Introduction

In one of our previous posts we already discussed  why your business needs a website.  Today we are  going to be discussing the top 5 key components that a high converting website should have but first what’s a high converting website?  In simple terms a high converting website is one that’s built for optimizing conversions, these conversions can either be leads or online sales.

Components of a high converting website

There are different components that lead to a high converting website, but we will just be looking at the top 5 today.

  • A clear navigation path

This seems like a given but you’d be shocked at how many websites are difficult to navigate. Nothing will chase visitors away from your website faster than unclear navigations. Your website should allow users to be able to access the information they want as quickly as possible while increasing ease of use. Here are a few things that successful and high converting websites have in common, they put the navigation at the top and only keep important links such as products, home, blog, contact and about us. Remember to not overwhelm your user with too many options.

Example of what a clear navigation path should look like

  • An attractive offer on your landing page

Having an attractive offer on your landing or sales page is important because it’ll help to convert your visitors into leads. Examples of attractive offers are discounts, free consultation, and other freebies. You could also offer free downloads and this will give you access to their contact information and with this you can add them to your mailing list.

  • A responsive website

A responsive website is one that can be accessed from any device. If your website isn’t responsive only people on desktops will be able to access it and this will be a huge disadvantage to your business because desktop browsing isn’t the most popular form of browsing anymore, mobile browsing has taken over. According to a survey in 2018 58% of website visits were from mobile devices, that’s more than half of your website visits that you’d be losing on if your website isn’t responsive.

  • Testimonials and reviews

Trust and credibility are two very important factors in converting your visitors into leads or sales. Testimonials and reviews let people know that your business is trustworthy. Having reputable brands in your client list and showcasing them will directly impact your conversions.

Also having reviews on your product page that lets people leave a comment after purchasing something lets visitors know that you care about their opinions.

Example of what your testimonial could look like

  • Clear and specific call to actions

A call to action is a button or link that drives your visitors into taking an action. A call to action button should tell exactly what it is leading to and what benefits the user stands to gain. They can be placed on multiple places in a website, just make sure that they are highly visible.

For color, studies have shown that red call to action buttons perform better than other colors and this is mainly because red is a very striking color. For your placement, buttons placed above the fold give better conversion rates, since it’s harder for users to miss them.

Conclusion

Like mentioned earlier these tips aren’t the only way to improve your conversion rate but they are the minimum that your website should have. If you’re trying to boost conversion rates make sure to use these and you’ll see real results.
